Since 1976, Safeco Alarm Systems has designed, installed, and maintained security intrusion, fire, camera, environmental, and card access systems for the Hudson Valley area.

What does it mean to be an Underwriters Laboratories TM listed Installation Company?

Underwriters Laboratories TM (UL) is a product safety testing and certification organization. It has developed over 1,000 Standards for Safety denoting qualified companies and products that reduce costs and promote environmental and public safety. As an authorized UL alarm service company, we meet the safety requirements set by UL’s rigorous testing and certification standards. We are also a member of the Central Station Alarm Association.

What does Safeco monitor at their Central Monitoring Station?

Safeco’s central station monitors you home or business 24/7 for more than just intrusion detection. We offer fire detection, smoke detection, heat detection, carbon monoxide detection, low and high temperature sensors, water sensors, and other environmental monitoring services.

Are you qualified to install fire alarms?

Yes. We have a National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level IV fire alarm designer and field supervisor on staff. In addition, our technicians have NICET and state certified fire alarm credentials.

What is a central monitoring station anyways?

All security systems are monitored by our UL listed monitoring station 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. Whenever an alarm is set off, our control systems automatically alert the central station, and our trained technicians alert the authorities as needed or as predetermined per your specifications. Day or night, on holidays and vacations, you can count on Safeco to secure your property.

Do you install security cameras or video surveillance systems?

Our service agreements entail that we also provide the highest quality installations and thorough inspections both during and after installation.

Do your employees hold any credentials or qualifications?

All Safeco employees undergo security checks and have extensive state and federal background experience.

What are magnetic contacts?

Magnetic contacts are two-part devices used to safeguard windows and doors. One part of the contact is a switch installed in the window or door jam; the other contains a magnet and is placed in the window or door itself. Any noticeable shift in contact with the switch results in an alarm.

How do you provide infrared motion detection?

We install an electronic security device called a passive infrared motion detector (PIR) that detects intruders by “sensing” motion or body head in the area. PIRs are helpful devices that secure your property when your family is away, or when no one is supposed to be passing through the protected area.

Do you provide medical alert service?

Yes. Our state of the art, UL listed monitoring station will automatically contact you and the authorities immediately when the button on your medical alert system is pressed. We carry a wide variety of alert devices to fit your lifestyle including necklace, handheld, and wrist models. Our system is constructed with state of the art technology, and is time tested to ensure that when you need help, you get it.

What are the dangers of Carbon Monoxide (CO)?

CO is an odorless, colorless, tasteless and highly toxic gas that is produced when fuels such as wood, gasoline, charcoal and oil are burned with insufficient air. The majority of CO residential fatalities are caused by heating systems, engine powered tools and charcoal grills. If unnoticed, large amounts of CO can overcome a person in minutes or slowly kill over a period of days — causing them to lose consciousness and suffocate.
